JMIR requires the prospective registration of Randomized Controlled Trials (including protocols). Other trial designs are optional.
Trial registrations should be added to the metadata of your article as part of the Abstract using the specific "Trial Registration" field. They can also be mentioned in-text in the manuscript itself. Trial registrations should not be added to your reference list unless the database itself is being studied. You can archive your database URL at WebCitation.org (required).
In the Abstract, your trial registration should be formatted as follows:
[Name of Database] [trial number]; [database URL] (Archived by WebCite at [WebCite URL])
Common databases include:
- ANZCTR (Australia & New Zealand)
- TrialRegister.nl (Netherlands)
- ISRCTN (United Kingdom)
- ClinicalTrials.gov (United States)
